1970s
The Beginning
To speak of Danilo is to remember a young dreamer who believed Honduras was a land of opportunity. In the 1970s, he discovered the nobility of leather and the art that could be shaped by his own hands. With a hammer, a punch, a piece of leather, and a vision larger than his circumstances, he began his first workshop in the patio of his humble home. Encouraged by friends, strengthened by faith, and accompanied by his wife Magda, Danilo took the first steps toward what would become one of Honduras’ most recognized leather houses.
1980s
The Takeoff
After traveling to Europe in 1977 through a short scholarship granted by the Honduran government, Danilo returned to Honduras with sharper technique and a clearer mission. His time in Lyon, France refined not only his craft, but also his conviction. He began participating in national and regional fairs, opening doors that positioned Danilos as a pioneer in high-quality leather goods in Honduras. “I will make leather handbags so fine that the Honduran woman will not need to buy them abroad.” — Danilo Martínez
1990s–2013
Leading the Leather Industry
During the 1990s, Danilos began to flourish as a symbol of Honduran craftsmanship, fashion, and entrepreneurship. Alongside his wife Magda, Danilo introduced some of the first fashion shows and seasonal campaigns in the country, presenting leather goods in a way Honduras had not seen before. From hotels and social events to editorial campaigns and storefronts, Danilos helped shape a new language for Honduran fashion: elegant, confident, and proudly made at home.
2014–2020
The Second Generation Leads
After nearly five decades of work, Danilos Pura Piel entered a new chapter. Following the passing of its founder, the company was entrusted to his wife and children, who continue the mission with the same discipline, faith, and commitment that shaped its beginning. Today, the second generation carries the legacy forward: preserving the craft, strengthening Honduran manufacturing, creating opportunities, and honoring the founder’s dream through every piece made by hand in San Pedro Sula. The story continues — not as imitation of the past, but as a living promise.
2021–Present
Second Generation. Same Promise.
A legacy does not survive by memory alone. It survives through work, decisions, sacrifice, and the courage to keep building when the founder is no longer physically present. Today, Danilos enters a new chapter guided by the second generation — a family that understands the weight, honor, and responsibility behind the name. What began in 1974 as one man’s dream has become a living promise, carried forward by the hands of Honduran artisans, the discipline of those who inherited the mission, and the loyalty of a community that has grown with us. Half a century later, the vision remains alive. Every stitch is still made with intention. Every piece still begins with the same respect for leather, craft, and detail. The mission is not simply to preserve what was built, but to carry it forward with excellence, relevance, and deep respect for the hands that started it all. In 2025, Danilos celebrates fifty years of craftsmanship — fifty years of stitches, sacrifice, family, and faith. A promise still kept: to create leather goods worthy of Honduras.
